Fatemeh Jalali

I'm a product designer with six years of experience. My first question on any project is why we're doing it, what impact it should have, and what users actually want. That shapes my decisions more than assumptions ever could. Most of my experience is in e-commerce, with hands-on depth in Shopify.

Fixing a Feature People Kept Giving Up On

Completion rate more than doubled

A popular feature in a Shopify app kept losing people halfway through setup. I dug into why, then redesigned it around ready-made templates instead of a blank slate. The number of people who finished setup more than doubled, and trial cancellations dropped too.

A New Feature, an Old Assumption

A major drop in trial cancellations

I went looking into what users actually needed and found a gap: a feature they wanted just didn't exist yet. Building it taught us something else too, a different framing for an older feature that drove up usage and led to a major drop in trial cancellations.

How I work

I spend more time with research than with Figma before a screen takes shape — talking to users, running usability tests, and letting A/B results settle a debate before opinion does. I work closely with PMs and engineers throughout, so what ships holds up outside of the design file.

I'm always looking to grow, staying current with new tools and practices, including AI-assisted design workflows.
